Is that a real thing? Do other people do this?
Over the past few months, I have organized so many unnecessary things like my google photos, my google drive, my closet, my sock drawer.
Why you might ask? Because I don’t want to do other things, why else?
Our wedding planning being over is what kicked it off. The post wedding blues are real. Even though I was so happy to be done planning, I didn’t know what to do with myself.
During the wedding planning I started to really think about whether or not I wanted to change my last name. I felt, not great, about completely changing considering the new last name is very….ahem…not hispanic in anyway. So for many reasons, some sentimental and also just tired of all non-Spanish speakers butchering my last name for my whole life I decided to change my last name from my biological father’s last name to my step dad’s and then hyphenate. So even though paperwork hasn’t been filed yet (waiting for my honeymoon so I don’t have to rush a passport) I am starting to update my last name everywhere. Which led to creating a new email account.
So I created an email address with the new last name, and then got it in my head that it would just make more sense if all my EVERYTHING digital was connected to this new email. So I went into all my various email accounts (ya’ll remember withcurlsandcocktails blog?) and redirected them to the new email. Then I went into my google photos and realized what a hot mess that was. And that set off 3 weeks of organizing photos.
The end result is a beautiful collection of photos that dates back to 2004.
Who knew I had all these pictures?!
I’m all about that nostalgia so while this was a lot of work, it was also so much fun to look back at these pictures while organizing them.
Now that it’s done I want to be better about organizing as I go, which is hard but now that I have all these folders it should be easier to handle. I’m also hoping I’ll find my printed photos at my mom’s house when we visit later this month so I can practice more avoidance by organizing those.
Has this ever happened to you?
