Show Us Your Books: September!

September 11, 2018

Life According to Steph

It’s been 3months since my last link up but for most of the summer I was running around like crazy getting ready for the move so I didn’t get a lot of time to read.  But for some the amount of books was probably still more than normal.

**Reading Challenge Update as of 9/11/18: 86 of 120 books read for the year!**

Here are some of my favorites from the past 3 months…..

Still Me (****) I wasn’t a big fan of the 2nd book in the series but I wanted to give this one a try and I am glad I did. I enjoyed it, I loved following the experience of a new city with Louisa and the dreaded insecurity in long distance relationships!

The Kiss Quotient (****) This was a fun read, definitely interesting. I am not sure quite sure how I felt about the guy but I appreciated the different take (her having Aspergers)

Soulless (***1/2) I don’t know what I was expecting but sometimes it felt like there was just enough to keep me interested but also parts that I could catch myself skimming because there was a useless amount of words to describe something…if that makes sense? They are a mix of like steampunk, supernatural, romance…I still went on to read the other 2 books in the series…Changeless, Blameless, and I’m currently reading the last one.

Flawed (****) I liked these but I am also such a fan of weird post apocalyptic societies and weird rules. I wanted to punch some of the characters which I like since it means Im getting invested. I went on to read Perfect too…but I think that is probably where my interest ends. If the series continues I probably won’t read the next.

Carve the Mark (****) So I started the book…got a little bored and time ran out on my library rental (only 21 days) I ended up adding it to the list again and once I got past the beginning I really enjoyed the book. I’m currently  #54 on 6 copies so it could be awhile till I get to read the next one!

Dumplin’ (****) This was on everyone’s list awhile ago which is why I just got around to reading it…thank you stupid library waitlist….but I thought it was a fun read. I started using it as my poolside read for the week. The jealous friend thing is so real for that age, I couldn’t help but be amused.

I didn’t have any DNF which was nice…but sometimes when I get on a romance kick I end up reading like 4-8 books in a row…soo….I ended up reading a bunch of Ellen Hilderbrand books including…

The entire Winter Street Series!

  • Winter Street
  • Winter Stroll
  • Winter Storms
  • Winter Solstice

That is my little recap. There were a few more books but I didn’t want to make this a giant list! I can’t wait to read all your posts and add to me TBR list!

High Five for Friday!

September 7, 2018

It has been 3 months since my last High Five for Friday! Yikes, that went by so quickly!

I haven’t been blogging regularly enough so I am going to do my 5 favorites lately!
– Warm Weather
Listen. I know some of you are excited for fall and over the heat but let me tell you…I love it. I love all the 100+ days of heat since I got to Austin and I don’t want it to end. I drive everywhere with my windows down, I walk over to the pool in our complex twice a week (sometimes more) I just want to be outside sitting and feeling the sun on my face

– Making our apartment home…
This is very much a work in progress…and I have found that I do not enjoy spending my time searching for home stuff. I thought I would but nope…I want it to look like home and not have to spend anytime shopping for anything. BUT we are making progress!

– Exploring Austin
We have one friend here and he has been here 3 months so he is showing us all the fun spots he has discovered and we are going out and exploring new places with him!

– Work, work, work….
I took a position in administration at a private school in Austin and while it is MUCH different than what I am used to I am loving it. I can’t say a ton about it but the school is 3x bigger than the one I was at the last 5 years and so it is taking some getting used to but everyone has been so kind and helpful. Getting to work is much longer than before. Austin is not a public transit city so I have to drive to work and its about 25 mins from home. One of the ways takes me up and down some gorgeous hills and scenery so I can’t complain too much!
Meetings and coffee is my new life
– Books, Books, Books…
Oooh A had no idea how much I read when we moved in together. Over the months before we moved to Austin I started to bring my kindle and books over to his place and sit and read while he did things. But he definitely did not know that I could sit in a comfy spot and read for 5 hours uninterrupted if no one stops me. I got a new Papasan chair and working on making a cute little nook for myself so that I can spend even more hours reading!
So those are my five on Friday! I am excited to go read all of yours!!

September Goals!

September 3, 2018

I can’t even use an image with fall leaves and stuff because Austin apparently doesn’t know it is supposed to be fall.
I will just have to settle for drinking my pumpkin spice stuff iced!
For September I would like to….
  • Get a weekly routine going for home
  • Go to the gym 12 times
  • Go to 3 meetups
  • Blog at least 3 days a week
  • Cook dinner at home 4 times a week
  • Go on at least 2 hikes
  • Get the last couple boxes completely unpacked
  • Get rid of one bag of clothing! (I had to buy new clothes for work so I need to dump some stuff)

I am actually super excited for this month. We were so rushed with the move and my starting a new job two days after we moved so we haven’t had the time to settle in and start any kind of routine. I am hoping to start settling in and exploring Austin and finish up unpacking!
