Show us your books!

February 13, 2018

I have been reading reading reading so I’m super excited for this month’s link up with Jana @ Jana Says & Steph @ Life According to Steph

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty…I was surprised by this book which is always a good thing. I find I often don’t like a book that everyone loves but this one was an exception. It was a great read. I stayed up to finish it and would definitely recommend it.
Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker…Another great read and also why I don’t take other reviews to heart (shes says as she reviews books and reads other reviews in a link up) but really you should always take a look and see if you like it yourself. BUT I thought it was great, twisty, dark and a little weird.

Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire, Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas…Listen I am flying through this series. I read all 4 of those books in a litte over a week and then had to force myself not to download the next book so I could read a few of the books that will be due back to the library soon. I can’t put them down, they are well written and 100% YA books and I don’t even care. Read them if you like magic, fighting and strong female characters!
I definitely do not finish books if I am not into them. I have far too many books on my list to waste time, sometimes I will give it a try if i feel like at some point they will redeem themselves…
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel….this book was part of one of the bookclubs that I am in and I was sorely disappointed to find so many people loved the book and I didn’t even get 50% before deciding it wasn’t worth my time. So boring. Seriously. I chose to do homework over reading the book. That should tell you something.

So those are some of the books I have been reading. Have you read any of them? Did you like them?

Books Books Books!

September 12, 2017

If there is anything I can talk and talk about it’s books. I love them. Read too many, usually trashy ones, sometimes serious. I love book lists and recommendations!

I have actually managed to surpass my goal of 75 for the year but I attribute that to my sudden decision to re-read the Sookie Stackhouse series this spring/summer. Here are some of the books I’ve read this year that I enjoyed!
 – The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I can’t remember how I found it (probably someone added it on Goodreads) but I really enjoyed it. I can say it may have some triggers for people so I would suggest reading the blurb and maybe a few of the reviews if that is something you prefer to know ahead of time.
– The Kept Woman by Karin Slaughter. I’ve noticed in the blog universe a lot of people either love her or hate her as an author. I could not put Pretty Girls down so I was excited to see this book pop up. Only problem was I did not realize it was book #8 in a series. SO I was a bit lost with the characters but it was still great. If you are a fan of hers I recommend the Will Trent Series
I started from book 1 now and I am enjoying them!

– Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris. This book. Yes! Highly recommend. Per my review ( i never review books) I couldn’t put it down. I felt like there was something up and I couldn’t quite place my finger on it and I loved that about it.

– Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton. I love YA books. There I said it. I really do. I also love magical, anything dessert or middle eastern type and this book has Djinni, magic, that and more. If you are looking for something light this book is a hit! I’m currently on the 2nd in the series too.

– The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. In looking at the reviews before I read the book I really couldn’t decide if it was going to be good. I actually checked out the ebook and then didn’t read it and had to wait for it to be available again. First, the writing in this book is fantastic. I love being able to picture everything in my head and a great detailed writer can do that. Its different than what you expect from reading the blurb and will either draw you in or you won’t like it. But. I. think. you. should. read. it!

Have you read any of these? What did you think? I am going to check out all your recommendations and hopefully have some new books to review before the next link up!

Romance novels

April 29, 2011

After a few weeks of reading too many romance/erotic novels I have decided its time to take a break. They have completely shattered my perception of reality. I keep expecting that any minute I will run into this amazingly handsome cowboy(this is because I have major hots for them) who I will fall in love with at first sight then run off and have crazy jungle monkey sex that we will call “making love” and he will be possessive and I will be happy and we will be married and live happily ever after all within a few days.

So yea, I am going to lay off the books for a bit. Plus, I think the scenes in my head inspired by these novels are worthy of the Pay per view channels.

I have decided that I want to write a book..I am sure that it will be borderline romance/erotic with a touch of reality and a pinch of sarcasm. I don’t know where I will start but I am going to do it.

So this is my Friday post telling everyone that if you see me reading on my nook, stop me and make sure I am not reading another dirty book. Enough is Enough! And stay tuned because I will be thrilling you all with a story. well, at least attempting to.
