Thirsty Thursday- Kentucy Mule

You may not know this but I have officially crossed over into a whiskey drinker (except for when I drink cider). I am still learning but I definitely prefer it to any other liquor…including wine. Its on my list to visit the Bourbon trail but Thenewguy is unpleasant whiskey person so I have to find someone who wants to go with me!

Anyway. I love Kentucky Mules. I used to really like moscow mules but now that I avoid vodka I have found this drink.

So what is a Kentucky Mule?

I had some fruity variations over the summer mostly because I just dumped fruit into a drink I had already made but I am looking forward to trying the fall ones! 

Tuesday @ Two: Week 1

Do you ever just want to randomly share something but don’t’ know that you have a place in your blog post? Thats me…all the time. So I think I am going to just share two random things with you on Tuesdays at Two…because I like the way that sounds. So here we go…

Tuesdays have kind of become my favorite day of the week because Thenewguy is always off this day. Its the one day of the week that doesn’t change for him and so I can always count on seeing him and if I happen to be off then I know I will get a random weekday adventure! It also means that if you try to make plans with me on Tuesday then I will probably already have a plan and likely say no.
I need a button like this because I am a dork like that.

I hate almond milk. 
There I said. Shit is gross, no I don’t care what you say or what brand you tell me to try its nasty. It has a horribly bitter aftertaste that even when masked with other ingredients I can still taste it. Ugh. Problem is that I can’t use coconut milk for everything because then it has a slight coconut flavor. 
So that is not at all where I was going with this post when I thought of Tuesdays @ Two…but here we are with two random bits of nothing that I couldn’t manage to fit into other blog posts.

Monday Funday?

Hello Out there…remember me? Yesterday I was sitting on the couch watching football and pretending to do homework when I remembered I hadn’t blogged since Wednesday. Last week was a giant shit show but its done and it is a new week! 

I usually whine about Mondays but I am going attack the hell out of it with some positivity today!

Friday was our annual Parent Cocktail Party where we invite all the parents to get together for some drinks, music and mingling. It was great…except that our Gym is not air conditioned and it was record 90+ this past week. HOT. like not even just oh its a little warm. I was sweating so hard I could feel it running down my legs while I was talking to people. So gross. After that I met up with Thenewguy and we went to a bar called Park & Field. It has an awesome outdoor patio area we got to enjoy.

That blur in the background was my boss…who had many many cocktails. 
 I was repping summery weather! 
Saturday my baby younger brother turned 19. I know. Holy shit. But anyway I drove to the burbs to celebrate at Olive Garden as we have every year since he was a little snot.

Then I made my way back to the city for the Goose Island Block party. We ended up waiting for 45 mins in line because we got there super late (should have learned my lesson last year but I am hard-headed) BUT it was a great time. We made it in time to hear Animal Collective and have some ciders, beers and food! 
 
I got some fries from this food truck and they were AHHHMAZING. No seriously. Check out the menu, I had the Papas Bravas 
Sunday Ended up being another busy day! Thenewguy and I had brunch at Bub City and then decided to go for a walk and enjoy the weather. We walked along the Riverwalk (which I had no idea had so much  going on now!) all the way to the end and then over to Navy Pier to hang out for a bit. I was so happy to be out in the sun and enjoying the weather.

Ended all that wonderfulness by chilling out doing homework and watching Football!

It ended up being a great weekend and I was exhausted by 7pm yesterday but so happy! Now onto a new week of workouts, work, homework and attempts to cook!
