Café Con Monica

On Mondays…Oh Mondays…

January 11, 2016

Oye. How did it get here so quickly?? What the Eff man.

How was everyone’s weekend?
I had a pretty good one, I relaxed for most of it since I was really fighting off a nasty cold/flu. It is finally down to a lingering cough that I can manage.
I had organized a couple’s Meetup to go Ice Skating and have dinner/drinks for Saturday night and, of course, because that is my life it decides to rain/snow all day long. ALL DAY. I kept telling people it was fine it was just snow but then it turned to rain and I was like shit. In the end only 2 couples showed up and it worked out perfectly! The rain turned to snow and it was pretty and fluffy and all very winter in Chicago!
We went to Maggie Daly Park for their ice skating ribbon which is kind of just a lot more fun then skating in a closed circle with a ton of people downtown.
Of course, this photo is not mine because it is too nice but I wanted people to see what I am talking about!

I didn’t wear a hat so people could easily find my curly hair and well…bad idea. My hair was completely soaked by the time we finished skating and I was FREEZING. I ended up using the hand dryer in the bathroom to help dry up my hair a bit before we went to dinner. (I really should have gotten a picture of that)

Trying to keep myself still and standing long enough to take a photo!
You can see my soaked hair in this one!

If you don’t follow me on Snapchat @Monipins you really should because sometimes I can actually be kind of funny. And you would have been able to see me attempting to stay upright while skating and taking a video!

A last one because this is what happens when I have tried to take a good selfie 5 times.

On NYE & weekends after…

January 5, 2016

I need to start coming up with clever names for posts. I think I read somewhere that it will help get more views?? I just don’t have that much creativity in me though.

– So for NYE The Boyfriend and I decided to join his friends for a house party. I was a bit weary because his buddies still drink like they are 21 and in a frat and I can’t hang like that. He lied  assured me that it would not be the case and they were going to throw a grown up party. We tried to get some dinner before we went but everywhere we went the wait was too long so we cooked at home and headed to the party. By the time we got there everyone was #whiteboywasted  but we still had a great time.

The Chicago countdown which was actually 20 seconds late…luckily no one noticed because they were all too trashed.
He was trying to eat my face…

The next day we hung out with his cousins to watch Iowa get their asses handed to them in a spectacularly sad game.

Way to make New Years Day depressing Iowa…

– Saturday night we had a fun date night at our favorite tapas place Bulerias Tapas Bar before school and work start again and we are back to reality of 16 hour days…

– Sunday was more football. Always more football. We bundled up the best we could and went to the last Bears game of the season. Of course, they lost.

It lightly snowed on & off during the game was damn cold but we survived.
Then I woke up Monday sick. Bastards.

On a Christmas Gift Swap: Reveal!

December 21, 2015

I love love Christmas gift swaps, I have to force myself not to enter more than 1 or 2 because I will get carried away and spend all my pennies on swaps!

This year I joined a blogger swap:

I got paired up with Lauren from Life with Lolo! We exchanged info and got to shopping. She definitely gave me some good ideas to shop for her so I was glad, sometimes people don’t( like me!) I loved stalking her blog and getting to know her and will definitely continue to follow so check her out!!
When I got my gifts I was so excited, she did such a great job!!

How great are these gifts??? I already used the purse, the ornament is hanging on my tree and the chalkboard has been getting plenty of use around the house!
