Austin Eats: Part Tres!

October 24, 2018

You guys know this! I really do. So i’m sharing some of the great food we have had in Austin!
You can find my previous Austin Eats post here!

On to the yummy food….

Piranha Killer Sushi –  We were in the mood for sushi but also wanted to go to the Beto rally afterwards so we decided on this place. It was pretty good. Not amazing but we would probably go back if we were downtown and wanted sushi! I do want to try their happy hour though!

Perla’s Austin – While my friend K was in town we managed to hit quite a few happy hours and while strolling around South Congress we decided to get some lunch at Perla’s. It was fantastic and expensive so 100% do happy hour there!

This is Pozole!
Grilled Octopus

Loro – Another of the stops while K visited. We had some of their $4 boozey slushies during happy hour, went somewhere else for more drinks then went back for dinner! This place might be one of my favorites in Austin! I can’t wait to take A to try it because I know he will love it!

Left to Right: Thai Green Curry Sausage w/Papaya Salad, Char Siew Pork Belly, Edamame, Char Siew Pork Belly Bowl, Crunch corn Fritters, more papaya salad

The Doughminican – We found this food truck in a park I had passed a couple times. Sooo glad that we stopped because the food was delicious…also the name is fun!

Empanadas w/salad
Beef w/rice, plaintains, beans, salad & avocado

La Barbecue – On a quest to try all the sushi and BBQ places in Austin so, of course, I tried this place. The wait wasn’t too bad (about 20 mins) and the food was pretty good. I am sort of obsessed with their potato salad it was so good!!

Brisket Sandwich, slaw, potato salad, El Sancho Loco sandwich and ribs
There are a few more but I think I’ll save them for the next round!
If you find yourself in Austin check out these places, you won’t regret it!

Austin Eats: Part Dos

September 18, 2018

So here are some of the new restaurants/foods I have tried in Austin over the last couple weeks! You can find more food posts here!

Via 313 Pizza….Detroit pizza?
People love this stuff down here. Its like eating a giant breadstick guys…BUT they have vegan cheese options so I tried it!
Sushi Bang Bang
We are on a quest to find all the good AYCE sushi places nearby and this one wasn’t too bad. I didn’t l like two of the rolls we ordered though.

Stubb’s BBQ
We had a few too many drinks exploring an open art studio event and found ourselves starving…Stubbs is open till 11…so bbq it was. Considering my level of intoxication I can not tell you if it was good bbq but I really enjoyed it!

Taverna
(Domain Location)
This place has $2 mimosas & bellinis and I can walk to it from home. DANGEROUS! The food was pretty good and luckily I tried it with two girls I met from meetup a few weeks prior. We ended up having a 3 hour brunch!

Ranch 616
This one was a random weeknight “lets explore” pick by A and we ended up getting to listen to some live music and have some yummy food. Apparently their fried oysters are very well known and we thought they were pretty good! More importantly…this place looked super cool!

And of course…my sweets addiction is never ending so we headed over to Rainey st to get some mini donuts at Little Lucys

That pretty much covers our Austin food adventures for the last couple weeks!
If you are planning a trip you and see more posts about Austin here!

Austin Eats: One month in…

August 28, 2018

One of the main reasons I likely won’t ever be thin is because I love food. I love trying new restaurants, baking, making new recipes….its a great and terrible at the same time!

It’s the last week of the month and I have officially been in Austin 22 days so I think it is time I share some food.

Our first meal in Austin (besides Whataburger at midnight after unloading the truck)
was at Rudy’s Country Store

We were so surprised to find it was basically at a Gas Station but it was amazing!

We are still really trying to keep to eating out on the weekends but definitely trying all new places any time we get out!
Some AYCE Sushi!

A quick stop for Korean bbq bowls

Our friend moved from Chicago a few months ago and works at Grand Lux Cafe so we must eat there!

A random find that had some live music!

We wanted easy breakfast/brunch and were pleasantly surprised by Wild Chix

Food Trucks are my newest obsession! There are so many places they are parked and it is impossible not to try something from each one!

Brunch this past weekend! We loved the atmosphere at this place!

A had to work so I went on the search for some Saturday night pizza!

Sunday brunch! We loved the food, I have become a fan of this place since it is basically across a main road from us!

I still want to share the foods I cook too but I thought I’d do a fun recap of all the Austin eats!
