High Five for Friday!

March 2, 2018

Joining the High Five For Friday linkup hosted by Tif @ Bright On A Budget,
Katie @ Cup of Tea,  Becky @ BYBMG

1. Friday night was pretty relaxing. We were both kind of exhausted from the week so we decided to try another cheeseless pizza night. I am kind of hoping to make this a regular thing because I love pizza and coming up with new things to put on it! We went with 1)Pineapple, ground beef & jalapenos w/bbq sauce and 2)grilled chicken, onions and tomatoes w/guac on the side

2.  Thenewguy has been trying to take me out to his favorite steak place for awhile but its way out in the burbs and I am lazy. We finally got to go to Al’s Charhouse and it was fantastic! The steaks were the size of my head!! So crazy and amazingly priced!

His steak

We should have just shared a steak. Needless to say there were a lot of leftovers!

3. Thenewguy collects these Funko Pops and I have sworn I will not start (I HATE to collect things)But I did mention early on I would only get one if I found a Jasmine (Disney) Pop because they are relatively hard to find…so then he found me one. Recently they released a set and he surprised me this past weekend with the new set! *And I  made him promise there wouldn’t be anymore!

4. Since we are coming up to the end of ice skating season around here Thenewguy and I decided to make sure we went to downtown and got some skating in. Luckily it was a gorgeous (40°) day! We went ice skating at the Maggie Daley Ice Skating Ribbon (where I wiped out hard after a kid flayed next to me)and then walked around, got some coffee, walked to Navy Pier it was a great time. We even rode the ferris wheel, which I haven’t done since my prom forever ago.

 5. What better way to end the weekend than with Sushi. Stuffed myself full of the sushi goodness and learned how to finally use Instagram live! It was a perfect night!

High 5 For Friday!

February 23, 2018

I feel like I have been super busy but really I just had a long 5 day weekend off work and so I forgot to get my life together and plan ahead. So this is 5 for the past week and half!

1) Valentine’s Day @ White Castle
Thenewguy and I had a very special dinner date at White Castle for Valentine’s Day and it was everything I hoped it would be and more (forget how upset my stomach was at me about an hour after dinner) If you haven’t tried it and live close to one, please do. I’ve never been into going all out or making a big deal of the day so I was super excited to do something cheesy. We had to make reservations 3 weeks ahead (last year I tried the week before and they sold me it had been booked up for weeks) I am planning to do a post about the whole thing at some point in my life but for now here is a picture!

2) Birthday Nights Out
My cousin/roomie celebrated her 23rd birthday this past weekend. Since I was off Friday we went for breakfast, had mani/pedi’s and then got all dressed up for dinner and dancing. We went to Cafe Iberico and then walked over to Henry’s. It was damn cold and we waited for about 25 minutes in line to find out that the downstairs part we wanted to go to was closed for a party. Ugh. We made the most of it, danced our butts off and probably had more to drink than we should have.

3) Black Panther
OOh let me tell you. I was so effing excited for this movie, I can’t even. It lived up to the hype and I was so happy that it did. Super badass female warriors, strong cast and great CGI who could ask for more?

4) Family Time
My mom’s birthday was on the 12th but she was on a fun girls vacation so we got together on Sunday to celebrate. A little food, some cake, and lots of laying around watching movies, playing with the kids and cuddling up with mom made for a wonderful sunday!

5) Target clearance!
Target had some of their cutesy workout stuff from the dollar spot on clearance and Thenewguy decided to scoop up some of the fun items he thought I would like.

High Five for Friday!

January 19, 2018

Joining the High Five For Friday linkup hosted by Tif @ Bright On A Budget, Katie @ Cup of Tea, Becky @ BYBMG

{1}Doing work!
On Saturday Thenewguy and I went to a volunteer event held by Target (he works there) & Chicago Cares I learned that Target is super involved in charity work. I’m sure everyone else knew but I had no idea. Anyway, it was great, and he was the only rep from his store going so he asked me to join. I won’t lie getting up before 10 am on a Saturday is not my idea of a good time but I am so glad that I did. We drove down to the south side of the city and got to work helping re-paint a school. Was an awesome time and I got to meet some great people while helping!
Excuse my face…I don’t normally get up at 7 am on a Saturday.
When he should have been painting he was snapchatting!
{2} Family Dinner!
After an unfortunate car accident on our way home from volunteering (we are ok, his car is not) we rallied our beat up selves and headed to the burbs for a family dinner. They have a new baby in the family so of course I was all over her all night. It has been great getting to know his family and being welcomed in so quickly!

He is not a fan of babies…

{4} Laying around
I don’t get to lay around as often as I would like. But Sunday was banana pancakes, bacon and marvel movies and it was AMAZING!

{5} Monday Funday!
Monday there was no work so I headed to the burbs to watch Jumanji with my sis & nephew and then have a great “girls night” dinner with my mom and sis. First, Jumanji is hilarious and don’t let anyone tell  you different. Second, I haven’t had a night with just my mom & sister in a long time and it was so freaking nice to sit and talk to them. My sister has never had Thai food before and guys…I could eat Thai everyday! In an effort to support her new adventure into being vegan we ordered only food she could eat and shared. It was fantastic! Sooo if you are ever in Naperville stop at Bangkok Village.
