The day is finally here…tonight at 8pm I board a flight to Thailand for a year. I don’t know if I’ll get to come home during that time or what amazing places I’ll get to visit. I know this is going to be a wonderful experience but I can’t help it wake up feeling bittersweet about it. I wish I could pack up my parents, siblings, my adorable nephew, The Boy and my 3 best friends so they could all share this with me every step of the way. I know that it’s not possible and it’s finally time for me to be a big girl and step out into the world. I’ve been planning this for years and I seriously still have to pinch myself because I can’t believe I finally worked up the courage to make it happen. I have to give all the people closest to me lots of love for encouraging me even though it meaNs I will not be readily available for birthdays, holidays, late night dance parties, Friday night Buffalo Joes sessions, and sitting around laughing and chatting with each other. For the next year this blog will catalog my travels, my trials adjusting to a country where the only words I know to speak are still Hello and How are you, my homesickness( because I promise you it will come), and whatever crazy antics my students my get into. I don’t want it to become just a travel blog but I do want you all to be able to share this with me too! Ok so that’s enough for now…if I can get some wi-fi in the Abu Dahbi airport I will give you an update on my first 12 hour flight! Let’s hope I dont get any screaming babies or snoring passengers!
