Craving a Dairy Free Latte in Paris? I’ve Got You Covered!

April 5, 2019

Hello, My name is Monica and I am a coffee addict. Oh, I’m also lactose intolerant (non dairy). When we started planning for Paris & Amsterdam I was mostly concerned with how I was going to get my latte fix without dairy.

The easy answer is Starbucks. It always is. But I gave it up for lent and we traveled in March. I am really glad for this though because I found some wonderfully delicious lattes in Paris.

Quick side note: I feel like now is the time to tell you that I am an Oat Milk convert. It is just so delicious in coffee and hot chocolate so you can imagine how excited I was to find it gaining traction in Europe!

Here are three places that I tried as well as three more listed at the bottom that I didn’t get to visit but know that they have dairy-free or vegan drink options!

The Hardware Société

I found recommendations for this adorable place all over the interwebs for their delicious food. Which we did have before visiting the Sacre Couer but you will see all about that in my next Paris post coming next week. I did not know that they had non-dairy options for the coffee though! There is a lot of English spoken at this cafe but in general I try to ask for soja or vegetarian laite (vegetarian milk).

Kozy Paris

This cafe is very close to the Ecole Militaire which leads to the giant lawn before the Eiffel Tower. We were on our way to take our last morning pictures in front of it and I was Grumpy (see the capital G) and needed some coffee. We walked right by and I made us turn around. If all else failed I would just have to drink a black coffee (ewww) luckily for me they 1) spoke some English, 2) had oat milk! Yay!

We got it to go so I don’t have a fancy photo!

Cafe Kitsune

This cafe is all over the internet too but not because they have non-dairy options but they are super instagrammable and delicious. They also have oat milk and soy milk as an option! I ordered my usual latte with oat milk!

I know that this post is pointing out where to find non-dairy options but know that they all offer normal milk options as well and are all delicious!

I thought I’d also share some other notable mentions that I did not get to try:

  • Shakespeare & Co. – A Bookstore with a cafe. I wanted to go here so bad but it didn’t fit into our plans.
  • Kb Cafe Shop – I found this place online while looking for non-dairy cafe options.
  • Vegan Folies – This place is special because its completely vegan and they have coffee & sweets! I really wanted to get here but didn’t have the chance. If you go please let me know how it was!

Travel Days: Caribbean Cruise – Cozumel, Mexico

February 20, 2019

Sharing Day 6 of our 7 Day Norwegian Western Caribbean Cruise. You can find Days 1-5 along with my other travel posts here!

I have been to Cozumel quite a few times, though only once before on a cruise stop. We knew there were plenty of excursions to do there too.

We chose to do a ATV and Cenote swim excursion.

We had some time when we got to the port before our excursion started so took our time getting off the ship and then we walked around the big shopping area.

About this excursion

  • The ATV part is a lot of fun in a smaller groups. We had a really big group and a lot of solo riders so every time someone stopped or got stuck we had to wait
  • If you have time to kill the boardwalk has plenty of restaurants to stop and get a drink for cheap
  • Do your research on your excursion!

I loved the cenote we visited on our last trip. Cenotes are natural pits or sinkholes that have natural springs or water. I wanted to check one out on this trip but the kind that were more open rather than climbing down 100 stairs. We got super sweaty and dusty riding the ATV to the cenote. Once we got to the Cenote though I was kind of disappointed because the cenote smelled horrendous. Thank you sulfur. No one wanted to swim in it because the smell was so bad. Not something they can control but it would have been nice to know going in that the cenote wasn’t clear clean water.

It was still beautiful though! After hanging out there and taking photos we got back on our ATVs and rode back to the pickup spot. Overall we enjoyed the stop and really loved the ATVs!

Of course, I have to share the towel animal we got back to our room to find that evening!

Have you been to Cozumel? Did you do any excursions?

Travel Days: Caribbean Cruise – Costa Maya, Mexico

February 13, 2019

Sharing Day 5 of our 7 Day Norwegian Western Caribbean Cruise. You can find Days 1-4 along with my other travel posts here!

Like I mentioned before we knew there were two stops we would not be doing any excursions. Harvest Caye & Costa Maya. So we planned to make another beach day of it.

About this stop

  • There are plenty of excursion options here just like in Cozumel since they are very close. So if you don’t get to do something at one stop it will likely be offered at the other
  • The port has a big shopping and dining area that has pools too
  • You can take a short ride on their shuttles to the beach strip if you want to walk the board walk and shop, eat or find a spot on the beach
  • If you go to the beach boardwalk area note that in order to sit in the chairs on the sand in most of the spots you need to buy a drink from the place that’s right by it.

We didn’t really have a plan so we walked the main area of the port but it was just too crowded for us so we decided to take the shuttle to the boardwalk area and walk around. We did some light shopping and then found a spot on the beach with comfy seats and an umbrella for AJS and then bought two drinks and relaxed.

I actually took the main photo for my blog (on the right) on the beach in Costa Maya!

After we got enough sun, relaxation and shopping we took a taxi back to the port to wander some more. We checked out the views and just people watched for a bit. Also, took the chance to use the wifi and check in with our families.

One day I won’t be so ridiculous at being photographed. One day.

Overall we had a fun time just relaxing and exploring. The only thing I will mention was that the beach had recently had a ton of seaweed wash up and it was sitting rotting in the sun and it smelled AWFUL. I promise I am not being dramatic is was pretty bad.

And, of course, the animal towels in our room that night!

Have you been on this cruise? Did you do an excursion?
