Guangzhou Safari Park Zoo

October 16, 2012

I promised I would post pics from my trips over the holiday week. The SouthAfrican girl and I decided to go to Guangzhou for the day and were decided on visiting the zoo. I don’t usually enjoy going to the zoo back home because I always feel so bad for the animals but I was wondering what an experience it might be in China.

Let me tell you something I learned while there. NEVER ever go during the holiday because it is ridiculously crowded, unbearable. The kind of manners you are used to back home are non-existant here so imagine a very big crowd with everyone doing their best to get to the front of the line or in front row, pushing, shoving, running and not caring if you are in line. It was very frustrating but we did our best not to get irritated.

So here ya go!

just chilling out!
Chinglish
he was sooo close!
picture moment!

So that was our trip. We didn’t see anything surprising which I was hoping for but we did have a good day of it.

Monday Monday…

October 15, 2012

I wish I could say I did a lot of exciting things this weekend but I didn’t really. I spent my Friday night on my couch loving it and watching tv. It was an exhausting week back after the holiday and I excited to relax this weekend.

Saturday night one of the other teachers had friends in from another city in China and we all hung out at the foreigners bar. It was a great time and I drank much more than I expected…first drunken night in China! Woo for me! I got to meet a fellow Chicagoan who was very nice but he has been here for 5 years and well…that does something to most people. You have to be here to understand. I also got to meet 2 more Americans. Most of the foreigners here are from everywhere but America nothing like Thailand. Sunday was spent cleaning my apartment, laundry and relaxing. Over all a great weekend for me!

I don’t have much but here are some fun pictures:

You’ve got mail…

October 9, 2012

Ummm I do? Yes!!!!! {insert little happy dance} No seriously. Who doesn’t love getting mail? Last month I got a package from home containing all the necessities…hair products, lotions, sunscreen(without whitener), hair dye, girly products. I was a happy camper indeed! I begged Mrs.M to send me some much needed things before they ran out and she came through in a big way! 20 pound box for me!!

Bestie A and I…i really need to give her a new name. I have thrown around snifferella and she knows why. I think I  like that. Ok from here on out on this blog she will be called Snifferella. –See the bold & Italics? means business in this place! alright alright…onto serious stuff…not really but still. I got a package today! I knew it was coming because, well, I had made some special requests. For example…candy corn. I only get this sugary goodness once a year and have recently learned that is very much a North American treat. The other foreign teachers have no clue what it is! I asked for some brown rice because seriously though all this rice in this place is going to make me a chunky butt mess. I told her some nail polish would be fantastic because the polishes this side of the world smell like turpentine and are crap! (this was before I moved to China and was given the no nail polish on your finger nails rule) Booooo!

Soooooooo Snifferella being the awesome best friend that she is sent me a care package:

Included:
1. 5 bags of Brachs Candy Corn
2.  4 Boxes of Rainsettes
3. 4 Boxes of Sour Patch Kids
4. 2 Boxes of Brown rice!!
5. A Justin Beiber Shirt
6. Lots of nail polish
7. Hand Sanitizer
8. An awesome note that made me smile and wish I could give her a huge hug!!

BTW I should put it out there that I do not like Justin Beiber but she loves me so she had to do it!
