Life According to Steph

This is one of my favorite links because I love love reading! For February I got in 13 books, it was a short month and I had two really big research papers due so I am not sure how I managed that.
Crazy Rich Asians (****) So I started it…and let it go because it was kind of slow. Then at a meetup a girl was talking about how great it is and she convinced me to give it a shot and keep reading. So I did…and then I finished it and China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems. I ended up liking China Rich Girlfriend best but they were all a fun read!

One True Loves (****) I didn’t think that I would enjoy this book as much as I did, sometimes storylines like this can be really cheesy but I think the author did a great job! I am not sure if I would know what to do in a situation like that!

From Lukov with Love (***) So this book ended up being read because I think I saw it on a few blogs for the last link up. I just…I just didn’t love it. It wasn’t a DNF but I felt like it didn’t measure up to there books I read by Zapata. So it was a solid 3 stars for me.
A Wrinkle In Time (****) I wish that I had read this book as a child because I can see how I would have absolutely loved it. As an adult who reads A LOT I was more critical of it. I still thought it was great though and am so glad I finally got around to reading it.
When We Were Worthy (***1/2) Another book from last month’s link up. I loved the small town, everyone knows everything but doesn’t kind of storyline but I felt like the end was not as satisfactory as I thought it would be. Turns out I like Marybeth Mayhew Whalen’s writing style because I immediately downloaded The Things We Wish Were True (****) after I finished this one and really really enjoyed that one. This one I loved, again, the small town gossipy thing seems to be something I like.

I need to read One True Loves! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. I read A Wrinkle in Time in grad school, so I understand wishing you had read it as a kid. I still really enjoyed it though and I NEED to see the movie.

I've been dying to pick up Crazy Rich Asians, partially because the movie is coming out this summer but also because I've heard awesome things! Glad to know it may be slow but worth powering through!! 🙂

Also interested in checking out another Taylor Jenkins Reid novel. I ADORED The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which I read a little earlier this year.

Have you seen A Wrinkle in Time yet? (I know it just came out over the weekend.) I read it in the fall – also for the first time – and remember thinking how bizarre it was, which I don't think I would've felt as a child. When you're a kid, you just sort of agree to things and get totally immersed. I was also possibly to critical, but I am excited for the movie, so I'm glad I'm at least familiar with it now.

Love your blog – I think this is my first time stopping by! I'll be back 🙂

I get so happy every time I see someone read a TJR book. I love her!

When We Were Worthy absolutely sounds like a book I'd love but as the mom of a cheerleader, I don't know if I can do it.

I loved One True Loves and like you, I have no idea how that situation would unfold for me. I've enjoyed all of her books!!

I loved A Wrinkle in Time as a kid and recently enjoyed it again. I can't wait to see the movie.

Too bad Lukov wasn't your favourite 🙁 I loved that one.

13?! You were a reading machine! I'm on the hold list for A Wrinkle in Time, but I've never read it so hoping to get to it before seeing the movie (which I'd rather see in the theater)! Crazy Rich Asians was a DNF for me because it was so slow in the beginning, but I may try again because the movie trailer looks really cute and fun. The Things We Wish Were True and One True Love are also on my TBR- happy to see another positive review!

I’ve been dying to read One True Loves! I’ve never heard of Marybeth Mayhew Whalen but I’m going to have to check her stuff out because they sound like something I would like!

I agree with you on Crazy Rich Asians! It got pretty slow for me too, though all in all I think I would give it 3.5 stars. Also agree on From Lukov with Love. I finished it because I wanted The Payoff, but so far it is my LEAST favorite Zapata book. The characters childish bickering drove me CRAZY.

A Wrinkle in Time (and the rest of the books) was one of my favorite books growing up. To this day I love it and with all the hype of the new movie, I need to read it again.

I read the first two Kevin Kwan books and thought they were hysterical. I haven't jumped on the third one for some reason and I'm not sure why. Everything in life is all about timing, including books. I might get to it one day, one never knows.

I think TJR did a fantastic job with the plot line of One True Loves. It is a very strange situation and I, too, often thought as I was listening to the audiobook about what I would do if I were in that situation. Overall, I'm very impressed with TJR. I like her consistency.

I really like your thoughts on A Wrinkle In Time. I haven't read it but with the movie coming out I added it to my TBR. The two small town books sound good and I've seen them across some blogs so I'm sure they'll end up on my TBR list.

I just picked up Crazy Rich Asians and hoping it might be a good vacation book. I to enjoyed One True Loves and Evelyn Hugo and may take another TJR book on vacation as well. I just picked up Wrinkle in Time at a booksale and hope to get to it soon so I can watch the movie. Pam 🙂

I read Lukov and enjoyed it, but it was also my first Zapata. I'd heard great things about Winnipeg and so I didn't want to start with it. haha I read One True Loves at the end of 2017 and I think there was too much hype around it for me. It was pretty good, and it was hard to read … you felt bad for everyone.. but it just wasn't my favorite. I want to read Crazy Rich Asians and When We Were Worthy. XO – Alexandra
